Making Contact With Employers

The best ways to establish social connections as described in this video are still viable today.

 

• • Find someone you know in the company, so that you have a first point of entry.

• • Using that acquaintance, you’ll want to make a contact one level deeper in the organization. With your introduction to the next person,  call or leave a voice mail. If no response, send an email and put your contact’s name and “referral” in the subject line, so they know it is not spam. Ask for a brief conversation, so they can talk to you about their role in the company.

 

• • If the company is hiring for a position using a staffing agency then you’ll need to network through them in much the same way.
